Lisa Blackburn is an intermedia artist who is interested in reimagining relationships with one another and with the environment. Her research-based practice engages participatory and performative technologies both digital and analog. Her work is often collaborative and/or co-produced taking form through moving image works, sound, objects, print media, installation, and interactive projects.

Lisa holds a BS in Botanical Illustration; an MA in Art, Education, and Social Action; and an MFA in visual art.

She has been awarded residencies in the Winter Print Residency at Penland School of Crafts, and at the Open Studio Residency Program at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts.

She has exhibited nationally and has taught workshops for over 20 years privately in her studio and in schools, museums, and community arts organizations including the Detroit Institute of Arts and Penland School of Crafts.
